The history of Bodenschatz AG

 

1940: Rudolf Bodenschatz founds Bodenschatz as a limited company. The success story begins with in-house electroplating and the manufacture of garden furniture, garden ironware and, of course, bathroom accessories.

 

1957: A brilliant idea by Rudolf Bodenschatz revolutionizes the bathroom accessories market. The CHIC series of products are the first with indirect wall mounting. A plastic part is screwed in and the accessories simply slot over it. Fastening screws are no longer visible, and Swiss bathrooms are taken by storm.

 

1958: Messrs. Egon Mauser and Fritz Bürgin buy up the company. Headquarters and production move to the present site in Allschwil. Bodenschatz AG remains in the ownership of the Mauser family to this day.

 

1977: Amid the oil crisis, an expanding Bodenschatz AG takes over Wider SA, a company based in Le Mont, Lausanne. Bodenschatz now has a footing in French-speaking Switzerland.

 

1985: Crowing further, Bodenschatz AG builds an additional factory building in Therwil (Canton of Baselland). The company enlarges its building in Allschwil and permanently extends its range. Bodenschatz also invests in its future, with a new wastewater processing plant an ultra-sound unit for its in-house electroplating.

 

1992: As a result of focusing on core business, the range no longer includes garden furniture, which used to be sold through Migros and other outlets. From now on, the company's total effort goes into the development, manufactures and marketing of bathroom accessories.

 

2004: Cooperation begins with the well-known designers of the Swiss company Formpol, who optimize the design quality of the Bodenschatz portfolio. As a result, series such as RIVA and SIMARA prove highly successful in the ensuing years.

 

2007: 50th anniversary, and a facelift. To continue the success story of the legendary CHIC for the next half-century, Bodenschatz updates this classic series once again. Formpol's designers trim back the main decor and create a more purist design. Better strength and higher stability enhance product quality. Attractive new products are added to the series. Bodenschatz manages to combine tradition, progress and trend in its new CHIC.

 

2010: Bodenschatz repositions itself. Based on thorough research, a multifunctional line of accessories is unveiled under the name CREATIVA. Its features are intelligent use of available space, optimum bathroom organization, and covincing aesthetics.

 

The Bodenschatz motto "intelligence bathroom accessories" sets the benchmark for all future product lines. A redesigned logo and creative communications complement the innovative products ideas and aptly epitomize the sense of a new start at Bodenschatz.
